| 07 August 2009: Snap-on Tools, brand leader in tools, tool storage and diagnostic equipment for the automotive market, has announced the sale of its 40,000th ˝ sq. dr. cordless impact gun.
“In less than eight years the market for impact wrenches has been revolutionised by the advent of cordless technology,” says Terry Barcham, European Managing Director of Snap-on Tools. ”Previously every workshop would exclusively be using air-powered impact guns. The move to cordless electric has been dramatic as improved mechanism design and fast-moving battery technology has delivered more and more power.
“Since introducing the first of our cordless impact guns in 2002, Snap-on has sold more than 40,000 of its variants, culminating in our new model the CTU4850HO. This features an improved and patented heavy duty impact mechanism which delivers an astounding 400 ft. lbs. (475 Nm) of torque.
“The unit has a cushion-mounted motor to reduce vibration, variable trigger control and a ‘glass-filled’ nylon housing with a slimmer nose design for improved access. The handle has an ergonomic over-moulded cushion grip to provide comfort for the user while delivering maximum power. The power unit features a rail slide-on battery pack with a charging time of only 35 minutes. Each CTU4850HO comes with a spare battery pack.
“At Snap-on Tools we pride ourselves on not simply providing the highest quality tools available but also our ability to predict future market needs and then create the required product in advance of customer demand. Achieving 40,000 sales of our ˝” sq. dr. cordless impact guns is a perfect example of this.”
