| 30 March 2009: Snap-on Diagnostics, brand leaders in diagnostic tools, software and information for the automotive industry, has introduced brand new service engineer vehicles to comply with the Company’s ever more stringent safety policy.
Snap-on Diagnostics currently has 28 service engineers covering the whole of the UK and each of these is now driving the new vehicles (pictured) which also have new vehicle signage – Snap-on Service Solutions. The new vehicles have been specifically designed to allow the service engineers to carry their equipment in the back and keep the passenger side of the vehicle completely clear. In addition, a new racking system has been introduced to protect the inventory carried in the vans – such as gas bottles – keeping them totally secure in the case of an accident.
New tracker systems have also been introduced into the vehicles so that the Snap-on’s service monitoring operation in King’s Lynn can see precisely where each vehicle is located at all times. This means that not only can the control operation target the closest, most appropriate engineer to respond to a distress call from a customer but can also keep that customer updated if, for example, the vehicle is held up on the M25.
Commenting on the new service engineer vehicles, Tony Barker, Operations Director of Snap-on Diagnostics, said: “At Snap-on we believe that safety is paramount at all times. We have therefore made a major investment in these new vehicles in line with our stringent safety policy. We have also used the opportunity to improve our response times to customer call-outs to ensure that we continue to offer what we believe is the best service support operation available to the UK Aftermarket.”
